Death on Sunday May 5, 2024, of Luis César Menotti, the first Argentine coach to have lifted a World Cup in 1978. He died at the age of 85, announced the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) on its account x.
THE HAITI FACTOR, May 5, 2024._Argentinian football is in mourning following the confirmation of the death of world champion coach, Luis César Menotti.
It was the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) which announced the news on its X account.

Menotti died this Sunday at the age of 85. However, the Leaders of the Federation do not comment on the causes of his death.
Luis César Menotti is the first coach who allowed the Albiceleste to win a World Cup in 1978.
After leading the Argentine National Selection to its first world title, he subsequently worked in Europe, notably in Spain where he coached FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid in the 1980s.
For several years he was Technical Director of the Argentine national teams.
