_Despite Derrick Étienne Junior in great form, Toronto failed to win against DC United in a thrilling MLS match. From the 2nd minute of play, the Haitian international opened the scoring for Toronto following a great collective action. Federico Bernardeschi served Derrick at the edge of the area, and the Haitian international scored to make it 1-0._

The match continued with remarkable intensity on both sides. In the 33rd minute, Federico Bernardeschi doubled the lead for Toronto with an impressive individual action on the right side, after dribbling past several opposing defenders. The first half ended 2-0, despite DC United slightly dominating in terms of ball possession and shot attempts.

Returning from the break, the home team continued to dominate possession and create clear actions, but constantly came up against an excellent Sean Johnson, author of several decisive saves. DC United were finally rewarded for their dominance in the 79th minute, when Theodor Ku-DiPietro reduced the score to 2-1 with a powerful shot from outside the box.

Toronto was then reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute following Bernardeschi’s expulsion for time wasting. Having already received a yellow card in the 52nd minute for a foul, the second card led to his expulsion, leaving his team outnumbered.

DC United, still looking for an equalizer, finally found it at the very end of the match, in the 90+5 minute, thanks to a penalty from Mateusz Klich. The penalty was awarded following a foul by Nickeison Gomis, who was also sent off for this infraction.

Derrick Étienne Junior played 81 minutes, attempting 3 dribbles (with 1 successful), making 1 shot on target which directly found the back of the net, and delivering 1 key pass. He also made 13 accurate passes out of 22 attempts. We can therefore say that Derrick had a very good match, being one of the most influential players on the pitch.

Despite this good start, Toronto was unable to maintain its lead and must now analyze this match to improve its management at the end of the game.

With this poor performance, Toronto drops to 10th place with 24 points, while DC United finds itself in 19th place with 19 points.
