In the Presidential Transitional Council, the division is visible. The CPT stakeholders do not agree on the choice of president, in this case Edgard Leblanc, nor on the designation of the Prime Minister, namely Fritz Bélizaire.

During a press release this Thursday, May 2, 2024, Ted Saint Dic, signatory of the Montana Accord, pleaded for a rotating presidency within the Presidential Transitional Council. “As part of this rotating presidency, we would have 3 presidents during the 21 months of the transition, namely Edgard Leblanc, Leslie Voltaire and Fritz Jean,” he proposed on behalf of his structure, adding that each president will have to spend seven months at the head of the Presidential Transitional Council.

According to discordant political voices, the Montana Agreement proposal does not fit with the requirements of the Agreement of April 3, 2024, signed by the sectors represented on the Presidential Transitional Council.

It should be noted that the transitional structure would be on the verge of implosion, given the fact that no cohesion exists between its members. What’s worse, the sectors that make it up, namely Fanmi Lavalas, PHTK, December 21 Agreement, January 30 Agreement, RED/EDE/Compromise, are at loggerheads. They accuse each other of wanting to seize power for personal gain.
