Donald Trump nominated as Republican candidate for 2024, chooses JD Vance as running mate
The Republican Party has chosen Donald Trump as his official candidate for the Nov. 5 presidential election after he received enough votes at the Republican convention in Milwaukee on Monday. Meanwhile, Trump announced Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate.
“After much deliberation and consideration, and having considered the immense talents of many others, I have determined that the person best qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance, of the great State of Ohio.”Trump said on Truth Social. A former military officer and best-selling author, Vance, 39, is known for championing causes such as anti-immigration and defending economic protectionism, which are dear to the former businessman.
Vance will deliver a speech Wednesday night at the convention.
It is worth noting that Trump was evacuated from a rally in Pennsylvania last Friday after gunfire. AFP journalists reported seeing blood on his right ear.
