Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of La France insoumise, “is not the leader of the New Popular Front and he will not be Prime Minister,” Marine Tondelier, the leader of the Ecologists, told AFP on Monday, June 24. She specified that the parties making up the left alliance – the PS, LFI, the PCF and Les Écologues – have agreed that the Prime Minister will be chosen by consensus between these four political forces.

Tondelier stressed the importance of a collective decision: “There is agreement that the Prime Minister will have to be found by consensus among the different political forces.” The candidate will thus have to obtain the approval of the four parties in the alliance, guaranteeing a unified and collaborative approach in the leadership of the New Popular Front.
