Prime Minister Garry Conille met this Thursday, June 27, 2024 with members of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH). The discussions took place around current economic and industrial challenges, as well as measures to be adopted to revitalize the Haitian economy, according to a press release from the Prime Minister.
During this meeting, Garry Conille thanked the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) for the efforts made to promote industrial development in Haiti. “While recognizing the need to achieve political and economic stability with a view to better performance of the industrial sector, he assured that the government will take concrete measures to this end and as soon as possible,” reports the Press release.
Exemption from taxes on imports of raw materials, improvement of customs processes, strengthening of border controls and support for the renewal of the HOPE HELP law, these were the subjects discussed during this meeting.
The Prime Minister, according to the press release, highlighted the government’s commitment to fighting corruption and updating the tax system which must “align with current economic realities.”
“The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with ADIH and other employers’ associations with a view to creating a favorable business environment,” underlines the press release, which specifies that the head of government emphasized “the participation of the economic sector in decision-making and the strengthening of public-private partnership.”
Furthermore, on social networks, ADIH presented its new Board of Directors, elected for the period 2024-2026, following its Ordinary General Assembly held on Wednesday June 26, 2024. Maulik Radia is now president. John Batroni/ National Production; David Coles/Agribusiness; Nathalie Hermantin/Textile are the vice-presidents. Mikaelle William manages the treasury. Stephan Déjoie is secretary while Tom Adamson, Carine Bellefleur, Georges Cassis, Laila Durban, Ralph Edmond, Maude Louis Jean, Christian Mathon, Christopher Rodriguez, Stephan Saint Remy, Alexandre Vital, Wilhelm Lemke are the advisors.
