The Transitional Presidential Council officially inducted Garry Conille into his position as head of government this Monday, June 3, 2024. He replaces Michel Patrick Bois-Vert who was until then interim prime minister.
It was a brief ceremony to hand over the amplification to Garry Conille. At the start of the ceremony, the master of ceremonies of the day read the decree appointing Garry Conille before passing the floor to Edgard Leblanc Fils, president of the Transitional Presidential Council.
In his speech for the occasion, Mr. Leblanc specified that this ceremony of handing over the amplification to Garry Conille empowers him to initiate the process of forming the government “in agreement and consultation with the Presidential Council”. “This act occurs in a particularly difficult context,” recognizes Edgard Leblanc Fils, presenting a gloomy picture of the situation.
The President of the Transitional Presidential Council says he is counting on Doctor Conille to put in place policies “that agree with the CPT in order to address the problem of insecurity, restore the country’s economy, reform the institutions and lead to elections credible and democratic. “We wish Garry Conille success,” concludes Leblanc.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Garry Conille said he appreciated the fact that the Presidential Transitional Council insisted on the urgency and the need to move quickly. Conille expects collaboration in the interest of the country.
Garry Conille praised the state of mind reigning within the Presidential Transitional Council, believing that the provisions are encouraging. “I am very confident that we will deliver what we promised,” said the Prime Minister, calling for everyone’s collaboration.
The date of Garry Conille’s installation has still not been set and his government has not yet been formed either.
