The Prime Minister of the transitional government, Doctor Garry Conille, visited, this Wednesday morning, June 26, 2024, the first contingent of Kenyan police officers at their base in Clercine. The Prime Minister expressed his government’s gratitude to them and promised, with this “new start” that “We will regain control of the territory house by house, district by district, city by city”.

The head of the transitional government, accompanied by the Minister of Justice, Me Carlos Hercule, and the acting director general of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Rameau Normil, visited the Kenyan police officers who arrived in the country yesterday Tuesday aboard a Kenyan Airlines plane, to show them the solidarity and recognition of its government and the Haitian people to the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti (MMAS), according to a press release from the Haitian Prime Minister.

During this visit, the Prime Minister’s number made strong remarks, maintaining that control of the territory will be regained house by house, district by district. “We will regain control of the territory house by house, district by district, city by city,” he declared with confidence.

He also invited the Haitian population to exercise caution in the face of this new stage of reality, maintaining that “we are on the eve of a new beginning.”

In the presence of the head of the Kenyan delegation, Dr Monica Juma, the head of government once again reiterated his firm will and determination to do everything possible, with the support of MMAS, to restore the peace and security in Haiti, reports the Prime Minister in its press release.

The day before this visit to the base camp of the Kenyan police officers of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti, Doctor Garry Conille, Haitian Prime Minister of the transition of his state, welcomed the arrival of the Kenyan police officers and the Kenya’s commitment to supporting Haiti in the security crisis.

Saying she sees Kenya’s support as “a light in the darkness,” PM Conille said she hopes this mission is the last one Haiti will need to achieve the stability and peace that the Haitian nation deserves.

The Prime Minister also announced a set of decisions aimed at making the Haitian army, the National Police and the Kenyan police officers work together, in order to definitively resolve the problem of insecurity in Haiti. Also, he called for the collaboration of the population in order to help the police forces succeed in their mission which is to restore peace for the free movement of all, political stability and the return of democratic order.
