The Livres en Liberté caravan brilliantly closed its stay, from March 7 to 18, 2024, in the city of Cayes-Jacmel, located in the South-East department of Haiti. A captivating and entertaining adventure for the benefit of hundreds of schoolchildren in honor of books and reading.
THE HAITI FACTOR, March 20, 2024._For a week, hundreds of students from different schools in the city took over the different locations of this major event such as the Filseccam Study Center, Sainte Thérèse of the Sisters of Saint-Joseph de Cluny, Study Center Success Auguste, Collège Béthanie and the Lycée de la ville.
Clément II Benoit, director of the Dany Laferrière Library of Petit Trou de Nippes (BDLP) and coordinator of the fair, as well as his team, were warmly welcomed by a young audience enthusiastic about the idea of discovering the most popular book festival dynamics of the country.
This exceptional opportunity allowed young people to satisfy their thirst for culture and acquire books on the Guahaba Communication stand that whet their curiosity. For a week, the caravan offered many literature lovers the opportunity to participate in lively discussions on important themes linked to reading and its role in the socio-educational development of young people.
According to Melus Jérôme, censor and head of the commissary at the Filseccam Study Center, “The Livres en Liberté fair is of great importance, because it allows students to become aware of the importance of reading. » He is convinced that this will also help them improve their literary skills, as was the case in the past.
As on all previous occasions, the managers of the establishments which hosted this event did not hide their satisfaction, also wishing that the wonderful immersive experience of Livres en Liberté would not take long to be repeated.
