P-to-P, June 24, 2024 [AlterPresse] — Several feminist organizations [[1] denounce a lack of transparent communication from the Presidential Transitional Council (Cpt) and the new government vis-à-vis the population, from their installations, in a context of multidimensional crisis, in a note sent to the online agency AlterPresse.

They criticize the absence of official publication of a biographical sketch allowing an idea of the journey of the new leaders as well as documents setting the political framework of the transition as well as those describing the process which led to the choice of the president of the Cpt and the prime minister Garry Conille.

They also criticize the non-publication in the official newspaper Le Moniteur of the main document setting the direction of the transition, namely the agreement of April 3, 2024.

Furthermore, “It (the agreement of April 3) was therefore not referred to in the decree appointing the members of the government who, paradoxically, referred to this agreement in their inauguration speeches.”

The “agreement of April 3, 2024 for a peaceful and orderly transition”, signed between different Haitian protagonists, defines the vision, mission and mode of governance of the transition.

The mandate of the Presidential Transitional Council, defined within the framework of this political agreement, is 22 months, until the entry into office, in February 2026, of a president resulting from the polls.

This deadline cannot be extended under any circumstances.

The Office monitoring the agreement of August 30, 2021 (Bsa), called the Montana agreement, also called the Cpt to publish, in the official newspaper of the republic “Le Moniteur”, the agreement of April 3, 2024.

About the new Minister for the Status of Women

Furthermore, feminist organizations say they ignore the criteria that led to the choice of the new minister for the status of women, who is unknown to women’s organizations and the general public, while “the existence of this ministry is an achievement of the feminist movement which must be safeguarded,” they emphasize.

Marie Françoise Suzan, was installed as the new Minister for the Status of Women and Women’s Rights on June 13, 2024, in the presence of outgoing Minister Dr. Sofia Loreus and Haitian Chancellor Dominique Dupuy.

She proposed renaming the institution “Ministry for the Status of Women, Women’s Rights and the Family”.

Based on the critical observations made on the mode of operation of the Executive, in particular that of the Cpt, installed on Thursday April 25, 2024 at the National Palacefeminist organizations urge the transitional authorities to take the necessary measures to guarantee good governance during the transition.

They recommend to the Cpt and the Prime Minister to establish transparent communication with the population, to publish the road map of the government and that of all ministries and to ensure the consideration of women in government action, among other things. others.

They suggest that they ensure systematic accountability and raise the question of impunity in relation to insecurity, emphasizing the responsibility of the State to create an environment that guarantees access to justice.

We must also address the issue of reparations for the population who have suffered trauma due to the actions of armed criminal gangs, advocate these feminist organizations. [emb apr 24/06/2024 12 :10]
