P-to-P., Jan 31, 2024 [AlterPresse]— Several citizens, including political activists, demonstrated again, on Wednesday January 31, 2024, in the streets of Pétionville, Delmas and Port-de-Paix (Northwest department), to demand the resignation of de facto Prime Minister Ariel Henry, observed the online agency AlterPresse.
In Delmas, barricades of burning used tires were set up on the road, during the passage of protesters, who denounced the complicity of Ariel Henry with the armed groups who sow terror on the national territory.
In Delmas, local residents had to inhale, against their will in their homes, the smoke of tear gas fired by agents of the Haitian National Police (PNH).
The crowd of protesters was blocked by the Pnh at the entrance to Delmas 60, not far from Musseau, where the de facto prime minister’s office is located.
The demonstration was then dispersed with tear gas fired by Pnh agents in front of the Canadian Embassy, between Delmas 75 and 71.
The protesters demanded the departure of Ariel Henry before Wednesday February 7, 2024.
In Port-de-Paix (North-West department), many people also took to the streets, this Wednesday, January 31, 2024, to demand the resignation of the de facto government, which has not brought convincing results, particularly against the terror of armed gangs, since its installation on July 20, 2021, more than 30 months ago at the end of January 2024.
These street demonstrations caused disruption to commercial, school and public transportation activities. [pac emb rc apr 31/01/2024 15:50]
