Dr. Louis Charles deplores the current inability of the sanatorium hospital to diagnose and treat patients while mentioning that these institutions are now inaccessible due to their location in dangerous areas.
Dr. Charles also said that people with tuberculosis are among the country’s internally displaced people and risk developing resistance to the disease due to their inability to regularly follow their treatment.
While warning of the risk of transmission of the disease in communities, due to the often precarious living conditions and promiscuity in the camps, the official therefore calls for urgent intervention by the State to identify infected people living in IDP camps and put them on treatment.
