Haiti – Insecurity: Canada has begun to facilitate the departure of Haiti for vulnerable Canadians
26/03/2024 10:28:39

“Canada has begun facilitating small-scale departure options for vulnerable Canadian citizens from Haiti to the Dominican Republic […] declared Mélanie Joly, the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs explaining “Due to the admissibility requirements to enter the Dominican Republic, this option is offered only to Canadian citizens holding a valid Canadian passport. However, Canada continues to work with its partners and allies to find other options for people who are not included in this group.

“If you are a Canadian citizen in Haiti and you wish to leave, you must use the Registration of Canadians Abroad service https://voyage.gc.ca/voyager/registration and contact the Surveillance Center and Global Affairs Canada emergency response team to discuss your situation.

“Canadians, permanent residents and their immediate family members who intend to travel to Canada should apply for a travel document as soon as possible.

“Those who need consular assistance in Haiti must contact the Embassy of Canada in Haiti by calling +011 509 2812 9000, or by sending an email to [email protected].

“Canadians who need a emergency consular assistance can contact Global Affairs Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Center in Ottawa, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:
