The Secretary General of the Haitian Senate, Marie Nelly Verpile Boyer was arrested this Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the end of her hearing by Judge Merlan Bélabre. She was arrested for corruption following investigation reports from the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), a former Senator confided to the editorial staff of the Journal.
THE FAUTEUR HAITI, May 2, 2024._Marie Nelly Verpile Boyer, Secretary General of the Haitian Senate is no longer free to move.
She was arrested this Thursday by Judge Merlan Bélabre, according to confirmations from a former Senator of the 50th legislature contacted by telephone by the editorial staff of the Journal.
The former Parliamentarian’s confirmations were supported by a video published by the media “Passion Info Plus (PIP)”, showing the lady handcuffed, parading under the protection of several police officers.
The investigating magistrate put her behind bars after interviewing her in his area following the investigation reports from the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC).
Ms. Marie Nelly Verpile Boyer is accused of corruption, in particular the mismanagement of the Senate of the Republic relating to the granting of debit cards to employees and individuals.
It should also be remembered that several other state officials including Édwine Tonton and Pierre Richard Valès have already been arrested for corruption following the conclusions of the ULCC investigation reports.
