From May 6 to 26, 2024, the City of Les Cayes is preparing to celebrate the 100th overview of the “Books in Freedom” caravan, a flagship event dedicated to Haitian literature. This edition will honor the writer -poet and literature teacher Jean Armoce Durgé.
THE HAITI FACTOR, May 4, 2024._Organized by the team from the Georges Castera library in Limbé, this great literature festival promises an immersive and enriching experience for the city’s young people. On the program: author meetings, conferences, debates on current literary subjects, exhibitions tracing the evolution of the book, youth activities with stories and creative workshops.
With the famous quote from Victor Hugo, “Reading is eating and drinking. The mind that does not read loses weight like the body that does not eat”, Brother Julio, director of the Brother Fabien Caron college, does not hide his enthusiasm for the launch of this 100th edition of “Books in Freedom”.
