P-to-P, February 29, 2024 [AlterPresse] — Lots of gunfire, barricades… different neighborhoods in the metropolitan area of the capital, Port-au-Prince, are again under high tension, this Thursday, February 29, 2024, observes the agency in AlterPresse line.
This sudden escalation of armed violence shakes several places in the metropolitan area of the capital, Port-au-Prince.
Several roads are blocked using trucks and other vehicles in Cité Soleil (north), Clercine (north-east), Marin, Santo and Lizon (north).
Bursts of gunfire were heard on the road to Toussaint Louverture International Airport and at Avenue John Brown, commonly known as Lalue, at Rue Lamarre and Rue Borgella (downtown Port-au-Prince).
A tense situation created a wave of panic at the Petit Séminaire Collège Saint Martial, where students were trying to avoid being exposed to tear gas, launched by agents of the Haitian National Police (Pnh), in the area .
Armed violence is reported on Boulevard 15 October not far from Tabarre (north-east).
Throughout the night from Wednesday February 28 to Thursday February 29, 2024, heavy gunfire crackled in Tabarre (north), Pernier and on the Route de Frères, in the commune of Pétionville (east of the capital, Port-au- Prince).
Many anxious people are stranded in the municipality of Tabarre and its surroundings, due to armed attacks orchestrated in the area by the gang Break Barriers by Vitelhomme Innocent.
” I do not feel good. Heavy gunfire rings out constantly where I am. I don’t know if I’ll make it home today. Vitelhomme Innocent is destroying the area. I am in shock. Help ! », Alarmed a visitor, stuck at the Tabarre town hall, contacted by AlterPresse.
Several residents in several neighborhoods under tension are forced to flee their homes, to try to escape the terror of armed gangs.
