The National Police of Haiti (PNH) published on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, a second list of names and photos of more than 60 prison escapees at the National Penitentiary against whom it launched wanted notices. Among the fugitives is Myrthil Marcelin known as “Arab”. The latter is the subject of several charges.

THE HAITI FACTOR, May 9, 2024._ Three (3) days after launching search notices on Monday, May 7 against all escapees from the civil prisons of Port-au-Prince, Croix-des-Bouquets, Tabarre and Port-de-Paix with the publication of ‘a provisional list of more than 100 names and photos, the police communicated on Wednesday evening, more than 60 other fugitives.

This second partial list concerns escapees from the civil prison of Port-au-Prince commonly called “National Penitentiary”, according to the PNH.

At the top of the list is Myrthil Marcelin, better known by the nickname “Ara”.

Arrested in Les Cayes on February 12, 2024, the opposition political activist is accused of inciting violence, plotting against the internal security of the State, criminal association, threatening to kill and escaping from prison, among others.

A few days after his arrest by the Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Les Cayes, Me Ronald Richemond, he was transferred to Port-au-Prince and imprisoned in the National Penitentiary.

He subsequently, along with thousands of others, escaped from the country’s largest prison center during the armed attack perpetrated by bandits from the “Viv ansanm” coalition on the evening of March 2, 2024.
