Haiti – CPT Installation: CARICOM Declaration

Thursday, April 25, 2024, the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) welcome the official installation of the Presidential Transitional Council (PTC) and congratulate its members.
The official installation of the 9 members of the Council at the National Palace, Thursday morning, marks an important achievement thanks to a process driven by the Haitians in the interest of Haiti. It also represents a crucial step forward for both the Council and the Haitian people in the fight against the protracted multidimensional crisis affecting the country.
This is an opportunity to create a new beginning that will give all Haitians hope for a return to constitutional government, stability and sustainable development.
CARICOM Heads of Government are fully aware that this facility, although important, is only one of many CPTs and the Haitian people.
CARICOM recalls the commitments made by the Presidential Transitional Council and is ready to support it and the Haitian people in their efforts to put Haiti back on the path to constitutional and democratic legitimacy, stability and sovereignty and to ensure the proper functioning of the Presidential Transition Council of State Institutions.
The inclusive and representative character of the Council, unprecedented in Haiti, is significant. The Community wishes the Council every success as it undertakes a historic task on behalf of the Haitian people. »
