The singer-songwriter JeanJeanRoosevelt, originally from the “pearl of the Antilles”, delivers a message of unity within the reach of his music, a vector of humanity with his new album Free Together,Who will come out worldwide the Friday March 29 on all digital platforms. He will reveal as a premiere, the entirety of this new opus, during the launch concert the Thursday March 28 au Club Balattou.

The ten titles of Free Together offer crafted, poetic and committed texts that are the artistic strength of Jean Jean Roosevelt. Sung mainly in French but also in Creole, her songs address themes such as living together, solidarity, gender equity, children’s rights, preservation of the environment and even strength in difference. With the collaboration of Sony Blackproducer of Crow in his beginnings and recipient of numerous awards, the artist offers us a high caliber album, with this perfect Creole pop sound cocktail where reggae and R&B serve lucid lyrics, in the colors of contemporary dreaminess.

In Acclimatisation, first single from the opus, Jean Jean sings in French, his reality as a newcomer to Quebec, with humor and intelligence. In Giselle, confidant of women’s pain, he lends his shoulder and proclaims the liberation from all unhealthy influence, supporting #MeToo. But it’s Unknown benefactors which will undoubtedly attract attention. This title explores the story of Jean Jean’s childhood. The artist then takes us in search of the Quebec couple whom he does not know, whom he has never been able to meet even though they supported him throughout his schooling in Haiti. He dedicates his success to them, the ultimate form of thanks for this solidarity which changed his life.

Jean Jean’s lucky star made him a recognized composer in Haiti. He achieved national success after creating a theme song that was a hit on the small screen across the island. A first confident step towards his musical destiny thanks to his personal ability to create original vibrations. His parents instilled artistic roots in him. His intimate story tells that his very birth was triggered in front of a choir of which his mother was the female orchestrator! The guitar resonates at the fingertips of his musician father who showed him this six-string game at the age of six, winning awards in amateur competitions.

With four albums already in his pocket – Start again (2007), Drips (2009), Yes Danger (2012), et Ma Direction (2015) produced in Senegal in the Prince Arts studios – and several recognitions including the TV5 Monde prize in 2015 and previously in 2013, the first song prize at the Francophonie Games in France, Jean Jean Roosevelt marks audiences with his sincerity and his overwhelming desire to transform the world, as he sings on Draw your destiny. The artist invokes new colors and more compassion. A prayer that resonates with current events in Haiti and the darkness of insecurity and the exodus of its people in the face of chaos. The philosophical man believes in it.

Jean Jean promises us a concert event which promises to be rich in emotions Thursday March 28 au Club Balattou.

The album Free Together (Records Nuits d’Afrique / Believe) will be available on all listening platforms from Friday March 29, 2024.
