Imprisoned in connection with the CNE corruption case, former MP Cholzer Chancy was released by judge Merlan Belabre
Incarcerated on January 22, 2024, on the orders of judge Al Duniel Dimanche as part of the case relating to corruption at the National Equipment Center (CNE), the former president of the Chamber of Deputies, Cholzer Chancy is released this Wednesday March 27, 2024 after being interviewed by the investigating judge, Merlan Belabre.
A relative of the former Ennery MP confirmed for Juno7 that the defendant’s lawyer had made a request for a waiver due to his client’s state of health. “It is often said that the defeat of law is always temporary” he argued.
Supporters of the former parliamentarian present at the Cabinet of Instruction expressed their satisfaction, while reaffirming their commitment to defending Cholzer Chancy. “He is innocent, he should not have spent all this time in prison, but the main thing is done now” declared one of the supporters of the coordinator of the political party Alliance for a Society without Exclusion (ASE).
