Former legislators Vikerson Garnier and Levaillant Louis-Jeunes are withdrawing from the presidential council race. In a correspondence addressed to the CARICOM authorities, the former parliamentarians confirmed their defection to Doctor Louis Gérald Gilles.

The two groups (minority and majority) of the agreement of December 21 reach an agreement several days after the expiration of the date of confirmation of representatives of the structures qualified to appoint representatives to the Presidential Council. In correspondence jointly initialed by the two competitors, they confirmed to CARICOM that they have dropped out and that the group is now represented by Dr. Gilles who, according to them, ticks all the boxes to be eligible.

Let us recall that this structure had dragged out the process because of its failure to find an agreement on the personality to be designated. Initially, this structure divided into two camps had each designated its own representative, leaving the choice to the CARICOM authorities. Which right was rejected by CARICOM which, conversely, gave them an ultimatum to settle once and for all. It is in this sense that the two candidates decided to facilitate the outcome of the crisis through their retreat in favor of Louis Gérald Gilles
