Champ-de-Mars, an area located in the heart of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, has since around one o’clock in the afternoon, the scene of fighting between police and armed bandits who want to take attack on certain infrastructures located there. These armed clashes have already caused numerous victims of stray bullets.

THE HAITI FACTOR, March 21, 2024._ Detonations of heavy weapons are heard in the middle of the day and until today (6:10 a.m.) in Port-au-Prince, more precisely at Champ-de-Mars.

Behind this shooting, armed bandits are campaigning for control of certain important state infrastructures built in the area.

On the other hand, the police intervene to repel the gangsters in order to thwart their plan. This gives rise to clashes between police and armed bandits in Champ-de-Mars and its surroundings.

For the time being (6 a.m.: 10 p.m.), it is not recommended for anyone to brave the danger to use the roads leading to the Champ-de-Mars.

In addition to downtown Port-au-Prince, bursts of gunfire were also triggered in several areas of the commune of Pétion-Ville.
