A few hours after the ambassador’s withdrawal Dominique Dupuy of the Presidential Council, the RED/EDE/Historical Compromise coalition has chosen Smith Augustin as its new representative to this transitional structure.
Already, the correspondence confirming this choice has been sent to Caricom to complete the Presidential Council, which has lost a member since the young ambassador threw in the towel.
According to available information, Smith Augustin holds a doctorate in Sociology. He is a specialist in political and social issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is a former Haitian ambassador to the Dominican Republic.
