Address to the Nation and members of the Presidential Transitional Council
“You too, gentlemen, will be held responsible for all the harm that will be caused to the people”
As We highlighted in our call of March 15, 2024 relating to the legal and institutional parameters which were poorly approached, We have, among other things, drawn the attention of political actors and the entire population to the seriousness of the situation economic, ecological and security of the country. This situation has since worsened and it is realistic to note that the time is no longer for procrastination or political calculations.
Our country “Haiti” is bogged down and drifting inexorably towards a point of no return. If many people were skeptical about the formula of the Presidential Transitional Council, we had nevertheless hoped for a citizen upstart to right the boat. Alas! It is clear that petty, partisan calculations quickly took over, leaving the population alone in the face of the imminent catastrophe that hovers like a desperate eagle. The situation is serious and the solution is urgent because the country can wait no longer.
Faced with this announced massacre, we, responsible citizens, galvanized by the springs of our history as a people and our understanding of the support of friendly peoples, call on the Presidential Council to find, within twenty-four hours, the appropriate formula with a view to structuring the Institution in order to begin the race towards recovery. Beyond this period, you too, gentlemen, will be held responsible for all the harm caused to the people.
Otherwise, CARICOM must draw the necessary conclusions and put an end to its good offices mission by resorting to the Court of Cassation in accordance with the spirit of the Haitian Constitution of 1987.
Let us recall that the last two elections which did not suffer from serious disputes were organized by the Court of Cassation, the only institution currently effective through its ordinary and legal posture of neutrality.
Recourse to the Court of Cassation will automatically resolve the futile competitions and the interference of partisan politics in the transition leading to free, honest and democratic elections.
We invite all the vibrant and patriotic forces of Haiti to understand the meaning of this citizen approach and at the same time invite all those who feel concerned to rally behind this proposal.
Haitian leaders and leaders, let us express our nationalism here through any sacrifice that is necessary in these difficult times.
Leaders of CARICOM and the International Community in general, the Haitian people are grateful for your support and, as always, reiterate their determination to build solidarity and mutual aid among peoples.
Brothers and sisters of Caricom, the Haitian people strongly hope that this space becomes a rampart for freedoms, the fruit of a common construction in fraternity and respect for the rights of each person.
Long live Haiti, long live the people of the Caribbean.
