While the resigning Government published in turn the decree creating the Presidential Council as well as the decree appointing the 9 members, the installation of the presidential structure remains a question. The cause? The gangs of the “Viv ansanm” coalition are campaigning for the storming of the National Palace, the privileged seat of Presidential Advisors.

THE HAITI FACTOR, April 22, 2024._The installation of the Presidential Transitional Council is one of the crucial steps to take to achieve the formation of the next Government as desired by Caricom and the United States.

However, it is orally on the lips of all those who believe that this structure is the best alternative to the multiple crises facing the country. It is worth remembering that this Council, which aims to save the country, took a month to form due to internal struggles linked to power, while the country was lying under bullets and the population was in dire straits.

However, neither the resigning Government nor the Presidential Transitional Council are masters of their destiny. And this is perhaps not even in the hands of Caricom which had finally imposed a solution on political actors incapable of getting along even in the chaos. Almost everything seems to be controlled by armed gangs including the “Viv ansanm” coalition!

Meanwhile, as a prelude to the installation ceremony, a delegation formed by the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) visited the National Palace on Monday, April 22, 2024.

This visit led by Colonel Himler Rébu, President of the Security Commission of the said Council, aims to assess the security conditions around the Presidential Palace before the 9 members take office.

Still, no date has been set for the installation of the presidential structure, while the country is in blood and fire.

And, a few moments after the departure of the Presidential Council delegation from the National Palace, new armed clashes were triggered between police and bandits in the middle of the day at Champ-de-Mars, near the Presidential Palace.

Gunshots from automatic weapons were heard in the area for the rest of the day until 6 p.m.

As a result, a gunshot death was recorded on Avenue Christophe. He is a young man whose identity has not been revealed. His bullet-riddled corpse was seen on the sidewalk, in front of the building housing the National Public Procurement Commission (CNMP).

So, between the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and the “Viv Ansanm” gang coalition, which one will win the ground battle? And until when will the 9 members of the presidential structure be installed?

Let’s wait and see what happens next!
