This is Gesny Pierre-Louis, a roller skater athlete who has just been champion of the “Liga Naccional”, a skating competition, in Chile, at La Serena. This happened on April 12, 2024. This title therefore gives him his place for the Skating World Cup which will be held in Italy next June.
After this new title, the native of Cité Soleil was honored by the Chilean skating federation. His extraordinary talent earned him an identity card as professional sportsman, according to the online newspaper Juno7. This qualifier will allow him to represent the country at the level of this sporting sector.
The athlete will be in Italy for the roller skating world cup. From June 13 to 16, 2024, in the city of Milan, Gesny will be alongside nearly 10,000 participants with 156 different disciplines.
He said he was proud to be the country’s representative in such a competition in an interview with the aforementioned newspaper. However, to carry out the trip successfully, a staff will be very useful to him and he cannot afford it due to lack of funding. He therefore appeals for help to his community.
“I am asking for the support of the Haitian community in the diaspora to cooperate with me economically so that we can achieve this global competition for Haiti. Together we can do a lot of things,” we can read on Juno7, quoting the athlete.
