Johnley Pierre receives the award for a Quebec without racism

The Minister responsible for the Fight against Racism, Mr. Christopher Skeete, and the Minister responsible for Relations with First Nations and Inuit, Mr. Ian Lafrenière, presented the Pour un Québec sans racisme award during a ceremony held at the Parliament Building in Quebec City. Among this year’s recipients is, in the Individual category, young Haitian Johnley Pierre. This honourable distinction recognizes his exemplary contribution to the fight against racism in Quebec.

Johnley Pierre was honoured for his many community commitments to youth. Since the age of 14, he has been involved in projects aimed at promoting the active participation of young people in Quebec society. As president and founder of the NSK organization, he supports people in vulnerable situations, particularly young people involved in delinquency. Through his actions, he works to build bridges between institutions and communities, thereby contributing to building a more just and equitable Quebec society.

“In 2022, we wanted to create an opportunity to highlight the achievements and commitment of those who are taking action against intolerance, discrimination and racial prejudice. The Pour un Québec sans racisme awards highlight their exemplary work and make them role models for all. A big thank you to our winners who are working with us to build a more inclusive Quebec,” said Christopher Skeete, Minister responsible for the Fight against Racism.

“I had the privilege of being a member of the Action Group Against Racism, which aimed to take concrete action. The Pour un Québec sans racisme awards demonstrate our commitment to equal respect for all citizens. I hope that, collectively, we will learn from each other in order to better understand our respective cultures and traditions,” said Ian Lafrenière, Minister responsible for Relations with First Nations and Inuit.

Johnley Pierre embodies hope and change through his dedication to community and commitment to promoting an inclusive society. His work with NSK has not only helped youth in need find a positive path, but has also strengthened community ties and inspired others to follow in his footsteps. His award is a testament to the difference that an individual dedicated to the cause of equality and inclusion can make.
