The American government, through its embassy in Haiti, congratulated journalist Jean Jul Désauguste for his recent appointment as spokesperson for Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conille. In a letter dated June 11, the Office of Public Affairs of the United States Embassy in Port-au-Prince expressed its support and gratitude to Désauguste for this new mission.
The official correspondence underlines the complexity and importance of the task awaiting Désauguste. “The mission of spokesperson is an arduous and difficult task. What Jean Jul Désauguste will have to accomplish in the coming months is crucial for the Haitian people as well as in the fight against disinformation,” we read in the letter .
The Office of Public Affairs pledged its support and collaboration to Désauguste, reiterating the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to working closely with the new spokesperson. “We are pleased to continue to strengthen the existing relationship between the Prime Minister and the Office of Public Affairs of the United States Embassy under your leadership,” adds the congratulatory letter.
Since his appointment on June 7, Jean Jul Désauguste has received considerable support from various sectors of Haitian society, including youth, women and members of the diaspora. This career journalist accepted the heavy responsibility of becoming the spokesperson for the head of the Haitian government during a crucial period in the country’s history, marked by a global crisis.
Biography of Jean Jul Désauguste
Jean Jul Désauguste is currently a Master 2 student in Communication (Language Sciences) with a specialization in political, institutional and media discourse analysis (ADPIM). A lawyer and journalist with twenty years of experience, he worked for four years at Radio Métropole (100.1 FM) where he coordinated and co-presented the Grand Journal du Matin, as well as the LE POINT section of Radio et Télé Métropole (Chaîne 52) in Delmas 52, Port-au-Prince.
Before that, Désauguste presented the show OPINION-68 on Télé Superstar, Port-au-Prince, for three years. He has also collaborated with several radio stations in Cap-Haitien, including Radio Kontak Inter, Passion FM, Télé Capoise, and Radio Régionale. His journalistic career includes collaborations with news agencies such as Haiti Press Network for ten years, and MEDIATHÈQUE (A la Une, Média Texte, People Magazine).
As a freelance journalist, Jean Jul Désauguste has also worked with international media such as TV5 Monde, France-Infos, and Martinique 1ère, demonstrating extensive expertise and versatility in the media field.
