According to Saint-Jean, it is a small bottle of oxytocin labeled as phenobarbital, a medication prescribed for people suffering from seizures. Still according to him, another small bottle of ergotrate labeled as caffeine is in circulation. He specifies that ergotrate is an anticoagulant, while caffeine is prescribed and administered to infants. Confusing these two medications, according to the pharmacist, can have serious consequences for patients.
Therefore, the pharmacist advises purchasing these medications only in pharmacies recognized by the Ministry of Public Health and Population, to avoid exposing oneself to the harmful effects of these counterfeit medications. He encourages the population to remain cautious and to inform those around them of this threat to medical safety.
