Prisoners escaped this Friday, May 3, 2024 in the evening from the civil prison of Port-de-Paix
A police officer assigned to the Departmental and Order Maintenance Unit (UDMO) confirmed to Juno7 that several prisoners escaped from the Port-de-Paix civil prison this Friday, May 3, 2024 in the evening.
“I cannot confirm the number of prisoners who escaped, but currently, agents of the PNH are carrying out an operation in the city to capture the escapees”, did he declare. However, this police officer was not able to provide information on what caused this escape.
A local journalist contacted by Juno7 pointed out that heavy gunfire was heard in the city, a situation that caused fear among citizens.
