The Presidential Transitional Council of Haiti, of which Fritz Jean of the Montana Accord is a member and which had strongly criticized in October 2022 Ariel Hernry’s decision to request a military intervention force in Haiti, wrote a letter to President William Ruto to ask for help and a “rapid deployment of police officers”.

On Thursday, May 9, the council informed President Ruto that “the country is awaiting the intervention of multinational security support in the face of the escalation of violence”, without however seeking to identify the thugs and bigwigs behind this “ indiscriminate violence planned by terrorist gangs which bore fruit of intervention.

According to Caribbean media, the letter from council members is an “urgent matter to resolve security issues”, which have been overdue for more than 30 long months under the Tet Kale 3 administration, the one that led the country into the abyss.

The message from the CPT, which has so far failed to demonstrate to its fellow citizens its ability to lead the country, too mired in the struggle for power, comes about two weeks before the possible deployment of 1,000 police officers Kenyans to lead the Multinational Security Support Mission.

Council members expressed concern over increasing violence and crime in Haiti and the delay in troop deployment.

It remains to be seen whether President Ruto responded to Haiti’s distress call, while the Kenyan press points out that of the 600 million dollars requested by Nairobi, barely a quarter is available.
