Hurricane Beryl, located this morning 125 km from Grenada, continues to follow its trajectory and threaten the Lesser Antilles with strong winds that could reach 215k/h, informed the Hydrometeorological Unit of Haiti (UHM) in its Monday bulletin.

Category 4 Hurricane Beryl is “extremely dangerous,” UHM says in issue 1is July stressing that “life-threatening high winds and storm surges are expected to begin this morning in some countries in the Lesser Antilles.”

At this time, Beryl is “not expected to directly affect” Haiti, which is not in its path. However, it is likely that as it passes over the Caribbean Sea, Beryl will influence the country’s weather by causing “moderate to heavy rainfall activity” as early as Tuesday.

The UHM says it is monitoring the progress of the hurricane in order to inform the Haitian population who could face downpours this Monday.

Indeed, several departments of Haiti, including Grand-Anse, the South, the South-East are likely to receive showers this Monday, according to the UHM specifying that these rainy activities are expected in the afternoon and evening.

The maximum temperature for this Monday 1is July could rise to 36 degrees Celsius while the minimum varies between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.
