Following bombing of its consulate in Damascus, Iran launches drone attack and guided missiles on Israel

The media are on alert following Iran’s launch of several hundred drones and remote-controlled missiles on Israel. The Iranian regime had warned the Israelis that their bombing of its consulate in Damascus would not go unpunished.

Last night, the Iranian threat was carried out with a direct attack on Israeli soil.
L’Iran, member of l’OPECholds the third largest oil reserves in the world but its production has been heavily penalized by American sanctions since 2018.

In 2023, the country increased its production by 500,000 barrels per day and managed to overtake its competitor Saudi Arabia. Its reserves are unofficially estimated at more than 500 billion barrels but Washington believes that the Iranian state has returned to its pre-embargo production level.

The Ayatollah promises a serious oil crisis to come if the conflict gets bogged down over time.
It is true that if the conflict escalates and spreads in this region, the price of oil risks jumping in a few weeks. Indeed, the majority of oil producers are present in the region and instability would undoubtedly affect OPEC’s neighbors.

In this sense, the head of the Iranian regime predicts that a barrel of oil would cost more than $300 if instability spreads regionally, a price impossible for purchasing countries to meet.

Iran’s allies and trading partners are global economic powers.
China, Russia and India are main partners.

Iran is also allied with the pro-Shiite Lebanese armed wing of Hezbollah, very active since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Hezbollah announced this Saturday evening that it had fired rockets towards Israel in support of the Iranian regime.

Without forgetting the Houthi rebels in Yemen who tirelessly continue their attacks on the Red Sea.

In 2023, the Iranian army has around 350,000 soldiers in total, including 130,000 active soldiers and 220,000 conscripts. Iran can also call up a number of around 350,000 reservists since most of the men have 18 to 21 months of military service to complete.

If military spending officially remains modest compared to certain countries in the region, the Iranian conventional armed forces remain at the forefront of the Gulf countries with a total strength of 523,000 men.

Designed by the Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force, the Fattah missile has a range of approximately 1,400 kilometers and its speed before reaching the target is between 13 to 15 times the speed of sound.

And regarding nuclear power, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has indicated that Iran has increased its production of uranium enriched to 60% and now has the theoretical capacity to make a nuclear bomb.

The consequences can be multiple because Israel is already stuck in a conflict with Hamas. The Israeli response can be measured and, on advice from the United States, can carry out targeted bombings.
If the Israeli state wants a response inflicting a severe loss on the Iranian side such as massive bombings, a regional if not global conflict could break out.

It is for this reason that all heads of state of the international community are monitoring this situation from hour to hour.

Many countries could be impacted economically if this conflict goes global, including Europeans and Americans who are currently in the middle of an electoral period.
