Until its end, in its limitless indecency, Musseau’s gang will have only done us harm
Three years without accountability. Named by a misnomer. Enjoying public goods. Salaries. Bonuses. Multiplying the trips rewarded by the profitable per diems.
Three years during which everything deteriorated in all sectors of national life. Three years during which the most you saw me distinguished themselves with eccentric declarations, the others burying themselves in a silence which meant that we had forgotten even their names and their existence.
And today the deputy heads of the consortium that I called “Musseau’s gang», after having schemed to slow down the process of creating the Presidential Council, want to spoil it by taking it upon themselves to modify by decree the terms of a political agreement between the bodies intended to lead this council.
The solution already seems shaky. It only has a chance of succeeding if it is based on an agreement between the parties that compose it. It only has a chance if it takes into account the demands of the Haitian population.
Three years during which everything deteriorated in all sectors of national life.
Here are the “ministers” of an incompetent, illegitimate, hated de facto power, whose leader had to flee, put in competition by the population with the worst gang leaders to designate the one who is entitled to the title of enemy public number one, still want to play the pain in the ass with a text which would only make the members of the council puppets and which, in addition, makes demands on them which could only delay their installation.

Members of the de facto government spent three years pocketing our money while watching our children die from bullets, our neighborhoods and cities become hells to flee, our economic and health conditions deteriorate, our institutions collapse. They did better than watch. They co-directed the overall process of destruction.
No, the formula from a famous song cannot apply here: “as I was only a bastard, I became honest”. Sometimes we will have been too bastard to play, even by deception, the card of sudden honesty.
The rumor of a separation bonus (they were therefore married to their position!), that of requests for positions in diplomacy, that of requests for a promise of immunity resemble much more what the ministers of the government of facto by Ariel Henry have accustomed us only to a posture of honesty. Delay the taking of office of the council, take advantage a little longer of management without control of public goods, position yourself, please the international community which absolutely wants to put soldiers in our paws…

It is having agreed to come to terms with this logic of continuity which still gives power to people who will be held accountable. Because it will be necessary to ask them the state of their property before and after their passage to the government. Some are already hit by the social sanction of contempt and can hardly show themselves and parade as in the recent past. Now the beneficiaries of impunity which has lasted too long are complicating, delaying and weakening a proposed solution that is already not easy to put in place.

Yet another proof that whenever the international world draws us into its logic of continuity, we have every chance of losing. We could ask the authorities involved in the creation of this council why they agreed to seek institutional legitimacy for it from a government whose leader is on the run and the members are discredited by an entire people.
Until its end, in its limitless indecency, Musseau’s gang will only have harmed us.
