MOPAL demands that the government facilitate the establishment of the Presidential Council

Since the announcement of the resignation of Haitian Prime Minister, Doctor Ariel Henry, the initiative to establish a Presidential Council to lead the country has taken root. Despite the signing of an agreement between parties, the CP is struggling to be installed.

Speaking this Thursday, April 11, 2024 on this subject, the Mouvman Patriyotik pou Lavi (MOPAL) through its President, former deputy Ulrick Saint-Cyr demands that the government in place facilitate the establishment of the Presidential Council for lead the transition in the country. “We are giving this government the end of this week to put an end to its game” declared Mr. Saint-Cyr.

The former MP specifies that MOPAL will participate in all initiatives to find a solution to the country’s current crisis. However, he emphasizes that the point concerning the security crisis must be a priority so that members of the population can go about their activities without great difficulty.

In addition, he welcomes the efforts of the Haitian National Police in his fight against the gangs who sow terror in Port-au-Prince and its surroundings. On the other hand, he is asking the authorities for more equipment for these valiant police officers.

Also speaking at this conference, the Vice-President of MOPAL, Doctor Renan A. Charlot calls for the integration of all structures that defend the interests of the population within the Presidential Council which will have to direct the transition in Haiti .

The Executive Secretary of this structure, Me Liez Edouard, for his part proposes that the structures which are not part of the Presidential Council can send the names of personalities to occupy the position of Prime Minister during this transition which must end on February 7, 2026 according to the political agreement creating the CP.

It should be noted that the Presidential Council has set as a priority the restoration of security in Haiti. For this, a national security council, composed of national experts, professionals from the diaspora and other personalities, will be set up to respond to the security crisis. At the same time, economic, judicial and anti-corruption reforms are promised, with the ultimate objective of organizing democratic and inclusive elections.
