Directorate of Civil Protection informs on its website Hydrometeorological Unit issued a notice for the threat of floods and landslides on 8 departments in the country that have not stopped receiving rain these last days due to the passage of a low pressure area towards the East of Cuba.
According to the head of the Hydrometeorological Unit, these departments are Grandans, Nip, South, North, Northeast, Northwest, West and Center. “For the Southern department, the sea can be rough, which can make cabotage activities difficult in the region. Boat operators must be very careful at sea”the note says.
This rain is because a low pressure area is passing towards the East of Cuba which causes rain and thunderstorms in the Caribbean region. The rain will continue today, Thursday, and tomorrow, Friday, May 3, according to the weather officials.
During the risk of floods and landslides, the Hydrometeorological Unit of the country of Haiti and the General Directorate of Civil Protection ask all people who live in areas that are used to floods to remain vigilant and always apply the safety tips.
