Blood pressure corresponds to the pressure exerted by blood on the walls of the arteries. Blood pressure that is too low or too high can be serious if left untreated.

What is too low or too high voltage? What symptoms can be associated? We’ll explain it to you.

Hypertension: what are we talking about?

Blood pressure is indicated by two numbers. The first number (systolic blood pressure) is the pressure in the arteries when the heart contracts or beats. The second number (diastolic blood pressure) corresponds to the pressure in the arteries when the heart relaxes.

We talk abouthigh blood pressure when systolic blood pressure is greater than or equal to 140 mmHg and/or a diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 90 mmHg.

Hypertension is often asymptomatic. However, very high blood pressure can cause headaches, blurred vision, chest pain or even dizziness.

If you have one or more of these symptoms and your blood pressure is high, consult a healthcare professional promptly. If necessary, he will be able to prescribe medication and/or give you some health and diet advice to reduce your high blood pressure.

Why is hypertension dangerous for your health?

Hypertension is the leading risk factor for stroke and a significant risk factor for heart attacks. According to the World Health Organization, hypertension is one of the leading causes of premature death worldwide.

Hypotension: what does it mean?

L’hypotension is abnormally low blood pressure: below 90 mmHg systolic pressure and 60 mmHg diastolic pressure.

Like hypertension, hypotension can be dangerous to your health because not enough blood reaches all parts of the body. When blood pressure is too low, the brain functions poorly and discomfort may occur.

Very low blood pressure can be life-threatening. Indeed, it can lead to a state of shock, resulting from a lack of blood flow inside the organs.

If your blood pressure is low, seek medical attention promptly.
