The United States established yesterday that it does not rule out sending forces to Haiti as part of an international solution to confront the spiral of violence that the country is currently experiencing.

According to information reported by the Dominican newspaper, the head of the United States Southern Command, General Laura Richardson, said, regarding whether her country could be part of an international solution, that “they could be Ultimately, we won’t rule it out at any time.”

Meanwhile, the Dominican Ministry of Defense (MIDE) reported that the United States and Canada had requested authorization to have temporary access to personnel and equipment, including aircraft, to conduct these operations well.

In this regard, MIDE indicated that it will collaborate in the evacuation of diplomatic personnel from the two countries of Haiti.

U.S., Canada to support diplomatic evacuations from Haiti with planes, personnel

The ministry “will collaborate, as it has done so far, so that these evacuation operations take place effectively and meet the determined objectives,” the press release added.

He specifies that he “continues to provide support for preventive or emergency evacuation operations of national citizens, staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations from Haitian territory.”

Through these evacuation operations, he said, staff who worked at the European Union, the World Bank, the Canadian and Cuban embassies, the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations were transferred to Dominican territory.

It should be noted that gangs control almost the entire metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince.

All neighborhoods are now the target of gangs.
