July 13, 1695 : Port-de-Paix was attacked and pillaged by the English, in retaliation for the Jamaican expedition, led in 1694 by Jean-Baptiste du Casse.

During the civil war between Toussaint and André Rigaud, some of the town’s inhabitants decided to join the latter. The insurgents, led by a mulatto named Lucien Golard, besieged the town.

July 13, 1866: The July 5 revolt was suppressed when General Léon Montas landed in Gonaïves, coming from the North. Generals Victor Chevallier and Gallumette Michel fled to Inagua, in the Bahamas.

July 13, 1999 : Commission of Inquiry into Police Abuse.- The Ministry of Justice announces the creation of a commission composed of three magistrates, charged with investigating serious incidents that occurred on May 28 in Carrefour-Feuilles, a working-class neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. During a police operation, eleven people were killed without a clear motive. The residents of the neighborhood accused Commissioner Coles Rameau of being responsible for this killing.
