A second group of Kenyan police officers arrive in Port-au-Prince, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, as part of the effective deployment in Haiti of the Multinational Security Support Mission. These new police officers were welcomed by the head of the Kenyan delegation in Haiti, Godfrey Otunga and the Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police, Rameau Normil, among others.

THE HAITI FACTOR, July 16, 2024._The Haitian authorities are welcoming a new group of Kenyan police officers on Haitian soil this Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

The latter, who left Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, yesterday Monday July 15, 2024, bound for Port-au-Prince (Haiti), are landing on Haitian territory as part of the deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission to reinforce the Haitian National Police.

At the time of the landing of the “Omni Air International” plane which was transporting them from Nairobi to Port-au-Prince, the newcomers were welcomed by the Commander in Chief of the Kenyan delegation, Godfrey Otunga and the Acting Director General of the Haitian Police, Rameau Normil and other senior officers of the police institution.

In his speech, the Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), in a brief statement, said he welcomed the arrival of this new group in Haiti as part of the Multinational Mission.

However, the Commander in Chief of the PNH as well as the Head of the Kenyan Delegation in Haiti, Godfrey Otunga did not comment on the number of foreign police officers who set foot on Haitian soil this Tuesday.

« As a security measure and strategy, we will not comment on the number, but you will be informed as and when we get there,” Rameau Normil told reporters.
