Accused of alleged participation in the assassination of Jovenel Moïse, Hyppolite Clifton, a police officer escaped from prison apprehended in Bainet
In an operation carried out at dawn this Thursday, May 30, 2024, the South-East police apprehended Hyppolite Clifton, former police officer of the 27th promotion, in the commune of Bainet. Escapee Clifton was wanted for murder, attempted murder, according to a memo from the PNH.
Accused of alleged participation in the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, Hyppolite Clifton was imprisoned at the National Penitentiary. His detention ended abruptly when armed individuals attacked the prison on the evening of Saturday March 2, 2024, facilitating his escape.
Since this escape, the South-East Police Department has intensified its efforts to find the escapees, responding to a wanted notice launched by the police institution. Clifton’s arrest marks a significant step in this hunt.
