In a trenchant tweet on the social network X, Mathias Pierre, an entrepreneur and former presidential candidate in Haiti, called out the current government for its lack of concrete results. According to Pierre, the current administration seems to focus on meetings with foreign actors while pretending to fight corruption and promising elections without ever really making progress on these fronts.
Mathias Pierre defined what he calls “Ariélism 2.0”, a political ideology aimed at maintaining power without real legitimacy, referring to the regime of former Prime Minister Ariel Henri. He described three essential characteristics of this approach:

increase diplomatic meetings to show international support.

simulate anti-corruption efforts in an economically weakened country.

signing political agreements to ease tensions while delaying concrete actions.
In his tweet, Mr. Pierre also denounced the inefficiency in security, allowing criminals to act with impunity. He highlighted the contradiction between the promises of elections and the absence of concrete actions, including the appointment of CEP members.
Mathias Pierre concluded by asking:
“Where is Ariel? What about his political ideology?”
a way for him to refresh the population’s memory of similar actions by the previous government that did not achieve anything positive for the country.
