This Friday, June 28, 2024, Prime Minister Garry Conille, in his capacity as Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities, in the presence of the Minister of the Environment, Moïse Jean-Pierre Fils and the Chief of Staff of the Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities, Jean Michelet Mondestin, installed Emmanuel Pierre as Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC).
According to a note from the Prime Minister’s Office, the choice of Mr. Emmanuel Pierre as new director general of the DGPC is, according to Doctor Garry Conille, part of the government’s commitment aimed, among other things, at strengthening the effectiveness of risk management and disasters in the country. Further, he promised the new director general all the support and assistance of his government in accomplishing his mission.
Prime Minister Garry Conille, as president of the National Committee for Disaster Risk Management (CNGRD), during this ceremony promised that efforts will be made to ensure that each measure taken as part of government action focused on the roadmap and the 2019 National Risk Management Plan be oriented towards the protection and security of Haitian citizens.
In addition, Dr. Garry Conille stressed the need for stakeholders in the risk and disaster sector to work together with the government, with a view to building a resilient Haiti ready to face future challenges.
During his speech, the new Director General of the DGPC said he is committed to continuing, with courage and determination, the construction of community resilience in Haiti. Thus, he intends to propose innovative and sustainable solutions according to the government’s vision, including the implementation of the Three-Year Operational Plan 2024-2027 which results from the National Disaster Risk Management Plan 2019-2030.
