From February 29 to April 9, 2024, 194 gunshot wounds were admitted to La Paix University Hospital.
The medical director of the La Paix University Hospital located at Delmas 33, Lerbourg Jean-Philippe confirmed for Juno7 that from February 29 to April 9, 2024, 194 gunshot wounds were admitted to this hospital center. Most of the victims were hit by stray bullets.
In his statements, Lerbourg Jean-Philippe also underlined that among the 194 victims admitted to the Peace University Hospital, there were 6 children, including one aged 4 years, 31 women, 155 men and 6 cases of death were recorded. In addition, 26 people were injured with knives and 279 others were victims of sexual, physical, psychological and other assaults, he continues.
“The situation is beyond us, we do not have enough resources to take care of the victims” declared Doctor Lerbourg Jean-Philippe who specifies that at present, the hospital center is facing serious difficulties in finding fuel and oxygen to provide care to the sick; to find bags of blood among other things.
Faced with this alarming situation, Lerbourg Jean-Philippe is requesting assistance from state authorities and partners.
