Haiti – Health: Important visit of an international delegation to the University Hospital of Peace

On Friday, July 12, 2024, the University Hospital for Peace (HUP) in Delmas 33, received the visit of a large international delegation including the Director of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Director of Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid of the European Union (ECHO), the Director of Emergencies of UNICEF, as well as the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO-Haiti.
Under the leadership of the Pan American Health Organization PAHO/WHO, a partner of HUP, this visit aimed to assess the functioning of the only public university hospital structure in the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince which continues to provide holistic patient care despite security and resource challenges.
During this visit, Dr. Fontilus, Executive Director of HUP, requested continued support from partners, particularly in the provision of medicines and medical equipment as well as in training and technical support.
PAHO/WHO reiterated its commitment to supporting HUP in its efforts to overcome challenges and improve health care for the population.
