In the darkness that assail Haiti, a glimmer of hope seems to emerge with the installation of a presidential transitional council. As ruthless gangs dictate their law, the population finds itself distraught and desperately seeking a way out of this devastating crisis. The arrival of this presidential council for many would represent a glimmer of hope in the midst of chaos. Gilbert Cicero reveals what he thinks about it.

THE HAITI FACTOR, April 27, 2024._ The writer Gilbert Cicero, through the Youth Federation for a New Haiti (FJPH), welcomes this initiative resulting from a national consensus. He urges the newly elected council to act diligently, calling for the appointment of former senator Louis Gérald Gilles as its head. Recognizing the latter’s talent as a unifier, Cicero is convinced that Gilles will be able to lead the country towards democratic elections as quickly as possible.

For its part, the FJPH is not content with simple wishful thinking. She calls for transparent governance, and to highlight the need for the council to review the constitution and tackle the scourge of insecurity ravaging the country. In addition, she insists on the need to help those displaced by gang clashes. The country deserves a new constitution adapted to its current needs.

In this surge of hope, the FJPH calls for the solidarity of all to restore peace in Haiti. She invites everyone to contribute to this collective effort for a better future.

Calling himself a nationalist, Cicero drew the council’s attention to the critical situation in Fonds-Verrettes and in the commune of Gauthier. For him, there is an urgent need to intervene in these areas plagued by serious institutional problems.
