P-au-P., April 27, 2024 [AlterPresse] — The vote for the designation of the president of the Presidential Transitional Council (Cpt) will take place on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Villa d’Accueil (eastern sector), announces an official press release consulted by AlterPresse.

The operation will be carried out “in complete transparency” in the presence of the press and representatives of the signatory sectors of the political agreement creating the Cpt, specifies the press release.

The decision was adopted during a meeting on Saturday April 27 between the members of the body, in order to decide, among other things, on the process leading to the election of the Advisor who will serve as President of the Cpt.

The Presidential Councilors, at the end of their discussions, agreed to set up an electoral office composed of three members including two non-voting members and a third, drawn by lot, on election day, from among the members of voting sectors n having no candidate.

According to the adopted document, the presidency of the electoral office will be ensured by one of the non-voting members of the Cpt, chosen by consensus on election day.

This step has been awaited since the day of the installation of the Presidential Transitional Council, on April 25.

In public opinion, it is estimated that every minute counts in this 22-month mandate, which should lead to the taking of office of elected leaders on February 7, 2026, while the general situation is catastrophic, particularly with regard to security.

The 9 members of the Council recognized that they will have to face immense challenges, according to the remarks expressed during the ceremony held on April 25 at the Welcome Villa, on the occasion of their installation.
