Ariel Henry and Emmelie Prophete Milce left the field open to André Michel and Edmonde Beauzile by playing the Court of Cassation card. It remains to be seen how far and how deep this team wants to plunge Haiti, while the country lacks everything.

Ariel’s illegal and unconstitutional government comes up against the “constitutionality” of the Presidential Council at 7 Tet while shootouts between gangs (pro-power and allies) and the police break out around the National Palace.

Heavy gunfire broke out in the capital’s downtown area as police clashed for several hours with gang members near the National Palace.

Dozens of people were trapped by gunfire in downtown Port-au-Prince on Monday, while dozens more managed to escape.

This new shooting comes more than a month after gangs began attacking key government infrastructure.

They burned police stations, opened fire on the main international airport and stormed the country’s two largest prisons, freeing more than 4,000 inmates.

Violence has subsided somewhat in some areas since it erupted in late February, but gunshots still ring out daily.

According to the UN, at least 1,554 people have been killed through March 22 and 826 others have been injured.

Last month, he announced he would resign as soon as a transition council was established.
Mr. Henry, who was on an official trip to Kenya to promote the deployment of a police force from this East African country, supported by the UN, has still not been able to enter Haitian territory.

The proposed nine-member transition council, which has not yet been formally established, is expected to be tasked with choosing a new prime minister and a new council of ministers.

On Monday evening, the illegitimate and unconstitutional de facto government issued a statement expressing concerns over the creation of this Presidential Council, arguing that the current Council of Ministers (government council) “has stumbled on proven constitutional and legal issues.” The Haitian Constitution and laws do not provide for this institution,” while the government itself is illegal, unconstitutional and, above all, accused of corruption and embezzlement.

The understudy government said ministers met on Monday to discuss the transition council and shared the draft decree with legal experts so they “can finalize it and bring it into compliance with the laws of the republic “.

The current Governing Council also plans to set up a joint commission to supervise the transfer of responsibilities, in order to maintain choice, observers note.

The de facto government said Henry, who has been without title or qualification since February 7, 2024, received a list of nine appointees to the transitional council on Friday and a draft decree establishing the council on Sunday.
