July 1, 1915: led by American Admiral Caperton, the Americans present themselves as the protectors of the property and lives of North Americans and foreigners residing in Haiti. This force would have received orders to urgently go to Port-au-Prince on July 27. On the 28th, the Americans officially occupied Haiti.
July 1, 2008 : nine organizations in Haiti including CRESFED, MPP, JILAP, ask President René Préval to take the necessary actions so that Jean Claude Duvalier’s funds blocked in Switzerland return to the Haitian people.
July 1, 2007 : the deputy secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, advocates the installation, in Port-au-Prince, of a campus of the West Indies University. He expressed this wish at the opening, in Barbados on Sunday July 1, 2007, of the 28th conference of heads of government of Caricom in which the Haitian president, René Garcia Préval, took part.
