Kenyan President William Ruto pledges support to Presidential Transitional Council

Following the official assumption of office of the Presidential Transitional Council, theKenya, through its president, promises Haiti its full support regarding the possible deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) to help the Haitian National Police.

The President of Kenya, a country which volunteered to lead the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) to help the Haitian National Police to create the security conditions necessary for the conduct of free and fair elections in the country, reacted following the installation, this Thursday, April 25, of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT).

“The swearing-in of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) today is a crucial step in Haiti’s political transition. The CPT has the singular task of quickly reestablishing key organs of the State, essential to the restoration of law and order and necessary to the establishment of hope for all Haitians, as prescribed in the decree of April 12, 2024. […] Kenya assures the Haitian CPT of its full support as it leads the country through this complex interregnum,” he indicated.

Recently, Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Kenyan President William Ruto about the political and security crisis in Haiti. On April 15, the main employers’ associations wrote to the President of Kenya, William Rutoto say that they hope for the deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission in a relatively short time, at a time when Port-au-Prince has been under a reinforced siege for more than a month and where we are seeing the the inability of the Haitian security forces to rout the armed bands.
